Four different peanut and dairy free trail mix ideas to satiate your snack cravings while keeping your tummy and skin happy!
Keep these 4 peanut & dairy free trail mix combos up your sleeve to jazz up your boring snack routine
I used to keep an eye out for easy to use trail mixes at the store but I kept feeling less than enthused by my findings. You see, my youngest daughter has severe eczema and a peanut allergy so we avoid cow dairy, wheat and of course…peanuts! So many store bought versions of trail mix contain candy and peanuts.
So, I started making my own trail mix combinations. It turns out that it was easier and even a little more fun than just buying whatever the grocery store had on the shelf. And I love being in control of what ingredients are in our peanut and dairy free trail mixes as well.
These 4 trail mix combinations are easy to make and bring on the go! I enjoy presenting them for my kids at snack time, putting them in our lunch boxes for outings and stashing in my purse when I know I have a long day ahead!

What were my standards when I chose these 4 peanut & dairy free trail mix combo ingredients?
Well, the ingredients have to be dried of course. Combining fresh apples and rice puffs in a jar would give you gross soggy results!
I try to find the best quality ingredients at the best price possible. I wouldn’t make my own peanut and dairy free trail mix combinations if it was not also cost effective.
So, I shop at places like Costco Wholesale Store for bulk bags of organic nuts and other mixings as well. I check our local Aldi grocery store for great deals on dried goods as well, you never know what you’ll find there! Another one of my favorite places to shop for great quality bulk ingredients is Azure Standard– Azure is a co-op type business that sources quality foods and other home goods, a great small business worth supporting and checking out.
My other standard is that each ingredient MUST be gluten, peanut and dairy free. I and my youngest daughter react to gluten so when I am looking at combining ingredients for a trail mix, being gluten free is at the top of my priority list, along with peanuts for her allergies and dairy for her skin.
And lastly, the end result must be yummy! My kids are always excited to find a new combination of their favorite little snacks when they open up their lunch box or come to the table.
